Perhaps many have wondered, what features are contained in the iphone 5 which the rumors will be launched this 2012.
But according to the news that the quotation by gadgetszone25 from iphone5reviewed.com, iPhone 5 will bring the myriad of new features, what are they ? chek it :
1. 4G LTE Enabled iPhone 5 – iPhone 5 features
This is a fairly obvious one. We mean, who doesn’t want to get their hands on an iPhone that can bring in data at download speeds of up to 32Mbps. But, Apple could delay the release of 4G LTE support even in the iPhone 5. This is because the process of rolling out the 4G LTE network across the nation is something that can finish only by the end of 2013. Apple have already said they only want to incorporate technology that is practically usable in the whole of United States, at the least.
So, for the iPhone 5, Apple could pull a surprise on all of us by giving us a phone that supports 4G in the form of compatibility with HSPA+ networks. As of now, the iPhone 4S only supports 3G networks. So, Apple can include just HSPA+ in the iPhone 5 and still make it look like a pretty significant upgrade. We hope that is not the case and are keeping our fingers crossed that Apple will give us a 4G LTE phone.
2. Larger screen size – iPhone 5 features
iPhone fans are almost unanimously rooting for a larger screen. Some want a 4 inch screen while some want the iPhone 5 to have a huge 4.5 inch screen. We think that Apple might give consumers a 4 inch screen although there is a possibility that the screen size might remain at 3.5 inches. We say this because some sources have said that Steve Jobs was extremely adamant at keeping the screen size at 3.5 inches, to allow for better battery performance. Jobs was also an advocate of the 3.5 inch screen as he felt that larger screens will lead to fragmentation of the iOS that will have to then be modified to cater to various iOS devices that have varying screen sizes.
Though Apple would love to keep the screen size at 3.5 inches, we think that they will cave into the pressure created by large screen Android sets and give us a 4 inch screen. There have also been rumors that Apple might be resorting to a experimental manufacturing method called IGZO screens, with screens made by Japanese companies like Sharp and Sony. It also remains to be seen if the 4 inch screens will continue to have retina display resolution that can currently pack 336 pixels per square inch.Maintaining a high level of pixel density can be a problem in bigger screens, another reason for Apple to stick to a 3.5 inch screen.
3. NFC Support – iPhone 5 features
This is another feature that Apple might have to include if they want to stave off the stiff competition from Android’s OS called Android Beam. With Android beam, one can just touch a compatible device to transfer media, web addresses, photos or anything else, at super fast speeds. NFC or Near Field Communications will also have several other functions and some even suggest that it could become the future credit card, where people just wave their phone instead of swiping a credit card. Apple have bought companies that operate in the NFC industry and we think that there is a very good possibility of seeing NFC support in the iPhone 5.
4. Liquid metal construction – iPhone 5 features
This could result in the iPhone 5 looking dramatically different from the previous generation iPhones. Liquid metal technology is the process by which the phone’s body is constructed out of one block of metal. If you want an example to understand what this construction will look like, just take a look at the Nokia Lumina 800. Liquid metal construction allows the phone to be easily made out of various vibrant colors. So, you might be seeing a metallic iPhone 5 being offered in more colors than just the usual black and white choices.
5. New shock mount technology – iPhone 5 features
Apple have filed several patents in regards to a new shock mount technology that might be featured in the iPhone 5. The shock mount technology will be designed in such a way that sensors deploy airbags that will inflate to protect the screen and critical core components in the iPhone 5, in the event that it is dropped from an unusual height. We are not really convinced by the feasibility of this technology. We mean, who wants air bags to be going off in their phone when they give their phones a casual toss onto a soft surface like a bed or couch. We would also not want the air bags to be going off when we jump down stairs, with the paranoid iPhone air bags ready to protect the phone, even when it is not at all necessary.
But, if Apple have filed patents, it must mean that they are pretty serious about including this technology.
6. Quad core processor – iPhone 5 features
The most advanced processors in smartphones today are dual core processors with speeds of up to 1.5GHz. But, some rumors have been floating around saying that the next generation Android and iPhones are expected to get super efficient quad core processors that will be able to speed things up even more and also optimize battery life.
7. Say goodbye to the home button – iPhone 5 features
This could be one change that could have some Apple iPhone fans protesting. However, there are many iPhone fans that seem to like the idea of a full touch screen that runs from frame to frame. This would of course mean that the home button has to be eliminated. We honestly don’t know if we like the idea or not. The home button is what gives the iPhone its unique identity. I mean, even little kids can tell that it is a iPhone by looking at the home button. But, a full touch screen that blends into the frame also sounds like a lot of fun.
8. Reduced thickness – iPhone 5 features
The current generation iPhone has a thickness of .36 inches. But, there have been many rumors that have suggested that the iPhone 5 screen could be an IGZO screen or an OLED screen. Both these screens have the ability to reduce screen thickness that could potentially bring down the thickness of the iPhone 5. Currently, the Droid Razr is the slimmest phone in the market, with thickness of just .27 inches. If the iPhone 5 can match that thickness or keep thickness at the .3 inches mark, it will look absolutely stunning.
But then, there are people who don’t like super skinny phones. So, we don’t really know what to expect from the iPhone 5, in terms of thickness.
9. 3D Camera with panoramic abilities – iPhone 5 features
The iPhone 4S came out with a 8 MP camera that boasted of improved optics. We think that the iPhone 5 camera could actually go one better, coming out with features like a 3D mode and panoramic mode. If the iPhone 5 features a 3D camera, the phone will have two cameras in the back, that work together to take the same picture with different focal points. The pictures with different depths will then be merged into a 3D picture. It sounds exciting and we think that a 3D camera will indeed be featured in the iPhone 5.
Recently, a hacker was able to reveal a hidden panoramic mode in the iOS 5 that seems to have been reserved for a future iOS device. So, there is also a very high likelihood that the iPhone 5 will have a full fledged panoramic picture mode.
10. 1GB RAM – iPhone 5 features
The iPhone 4S has just 512MB RAM. Almost all Android super smartphones come with at 1GB RAM these days. We think that Apple will definitely increase the amount of RAM on the iPhone 5, especially if they are moving to a quad core A6 processor.512 MB RAM will just not cut it if the iPhone 5 is going to be 4G LTE enabled.
11. HDMI output – iPhone 5 features
For some reason, Apple have stubbornly denied millions of iPhone owners around the world a simple option to hook up their phones to their TV’s, to watch some HD video playback. We think that the iPhone 5 will finally include that feature.
12. Heavy duty battery – iPhone 5 features
The iPhone 4s has been plagued by battery problems. Though Apple have said that the iPhone 4S’s battery problems are software related and not hardware related, the 4S’s 1,420 mAh battery will just not cut it for the iPhone 5, especially if the iPhone 5 has 4G LTE support. 4G LTE networks are a lot more demanding than 3G networks and Apple will most probably include a large and heavy duty battery, with minimum capacity of at least 1,830 mAh.The are going to be especially careful about battery life, now that they have had so many complaints about the iPhone 4S battery life.
13. Exclusive deal with Sprint! – iPhone 5 features
We recently wrote about how Sprint signed a $20 Billion contract to buy iPhones for the next 4 years. This is a huge commitment from Sprint and we are guessing that they might have also inked a deal to carry some kind of an exclusive deal with Apple. It could be that Sprint might exclusively carry the 4G LTE iPhone 5′s while other carriers will get HSPA+ enabled iPhone 5′s. This is mere speculation though.
Apple could also be working with smaller carriers like U.S. Cellular to expand their carrier base. Currently, the iPhone is only offered to Verizon, AT&T and Sprint customers, with even Sprint getting their first iPhone just a few months ago, in the form of the iPhone 4S.
14. One variant of the iPhone 5 that will have a Qwerty keyboard – iPhone 5 features
We don’t think that the iPhone 5 will have a physical Qwerty keyboard although there is a chance that Apple might introduce a variant of the iPhone 5, with a full Qwerty keyboard. There is a sizable market out there for smartphones with Qwerty keyboards and it could mean that Apple might want to dip their feet into that market as well.
15. Curved glass display – iPhone 5 features
There have been many rumors that have suggested that Apple have bought about 300 advanced glass cutting machines that will be able to cut out slightly curved glasses for the iPhone 5. A curved glass display allows the phone to be cradled in a better manner, up against a person’s cheek. However, the function of the curved glass is to induce a mostly aesthetic effect that makes a phone look different from the vast majority of phones that use straight glass displays. We honestly don’t care for the curved glass display as it is something that is noticeable only if you look at it quite closely. There are a few android phones that have a curved glass display. Take a look at some of the Dell phones to see what we are talking about.
16. Revamped OS – iPhone 5 features
These are the craziest rumors we have heard so far but they are being floated around. These super sensational rumors are saying that Apple is working on an OS that will combine iOS and Mac OS X together, to provide users with a super functional OS that will leave Ice Cream Sandwich and Windows 7.5 Mango gasping in the dust. Since there are rumors that also seem to suggest that the iPhone 5 might get quad core processors, we only wonder where all the processing power will go. We think that it will be directed at the super improved iOS 6 that will be very different from the iOS5.
17. Wire free charging – iPhone 5 features
A very reputable source at Wall Street Journal was quoted saying that the iPhone 5 might feature a break through technology that might allow the phone to be charged without being hooked up to any cables. We are not sure how this is going to happen and really can’t give you any details on it. It might have something to do with Near Field Communications or NFC technology. That is our best educated guess on the matter.
18. End to end screen – iPhone 5 features
The iPhone 5 could be radically different in appearance. Incorporating a 4 inch screen will mean that Apple will have to make changes to the primary design of the iPhone 5. We think that they could go all out to do a complete revamp, giving us a beautiful phone that has a 4 inch screen that runs from edge to edge, giving it a great look.
19. iMaps – iPhone 5 features
We recently wrote a pretty big post on how the iPhone 5 might not be dependent on Google Maps anymore. Apple has been spending Millions if not Billions of dollars on acquiring high profile mapping companies and we are assuming that Apple is developing their own maps that will be used on the iOS devices. Not relying on Google Maps will allow Apple to provide better navigation systems and location based services as they will have access to both the front end and the back end of the maps.
20. SD Card slot inclusion (Please) – iPhone 5 features
OK, this is something that will probably never happen. But, if Apple sold the 16GB model with an expandable 32GB SD card, who needs to spend about $400 more on the 64GB model. But, as mentioned earlier, Apple have never given their customers a chance to put in a removable SD card in their iPhones or iPads although it will be a welcome addition to millions of Apple product lovers.
